Social Security Trace verifies a candidate’s valid Social Security Number. If the number is valid, the trace will identify the year and state in which the number was issued. The Social Security Trace will alert you if the number has not been issued, if it was used in a previously filed death claim, or if it was used with any fraudulent activity. The trace also identifies prior aliases that may have been used and provides up to three past addresses, which assists in determining which counties to search for a candidate’s possible criminal record. Quality Counts, Inc. suggests Credit History Reports for employees whose actions can affect a company’s financial integrity, which includes employees in accounting functions, those who handle money, purchasing and inventory of goods. The credit history reports Quality Counts conducts are solely for employment purposes, and do not adversely affect a prospective candidate’s credit report. The report includes verification of the applicants’ name, their current address and two previous addresses, current phone number, current employer, up to three previous employers, and any aliases associated with the Social Security Number. The credit summary portion of the report contains a complete file including public records, collection accounts, current or previous delinquent accounts, types of credit, total indebtedness. Quality Counts, Inc. believes motor vehicle information exposes important character issues as crimes are not solely committed where we live and work. By verifying a candidate’s driving record, suspended licenses, failures to appear in court and arrest warrants can be revealed. In addition, drug and alcohol related driving offenses, such as driving under the influence and possession of drugs may serve as a warning of potential substance abuse problems and identify potential behaviors that can affect job performance and employee safety. Quality Counts, Inc. recommends County criminal searches to protect against workplace violence and employee theft. We perform searches of current records from local County Superior and Municipal courts. Criminal searches are available nationwide. We recommend a search of all counties of residence and any aliases that are identified in an applicant's Social Security Trace. Using our large network of resources, we access the most current information available and report felony and misdemeanor convictions based on applicable federal and state law. Of note regarding Criminal History reporting, The FTC in a staff opinion letter stated that "an employment screening service that uses 'stored data' (which may be as much as 90 days old) does not comply with" the Fair Credit Reporting Act Section 613(2). State Repositories are available in some states, but many provide partial or out-of-date information because they are not frequently updated. Except where the repository is updated daily, state repository searches should not replace county criminal searches. Criminal Federal Court Record Search Search of Federal District Courts and U.S. Federal District Courts for convictions of crimes that occurred on federal property and convictions of federal laws such as tax evasion, mail and wire fraud, drug trafficking, immigration law violations and postal offenses. Records provide a criminal history from the date of disposition, parole or release from imprisonment. Federal Civil Records Search by District Search of Federal District Courts for civil case records which involve alleged violations of federal statutes or constitutional rights. Cases may be brought by individuals, companies or governmental entities seeking an injunction, monetary damages, and/or other remedy provided by law. Case information will include party name, case title, the court in which the case is located, case number, filing date, nature of suit and closing date. Federal Civil Records Search Nationally
Previous Employment Verification Previous Employment Verification is critical and recommended for all employees, as statistics reveal that up to 40% of applicants falsify this information to some degree. The Employment Verification reports the employer’s name, applicant’s title, dates of employment, salary history (upon client’s request), rehire eligibility. Additional information may be requested at the Client’s suggestion. Education verification is recommended for any position which requires a degree or academic credentials in order to hold the position which includes Executive, Upper Management, Education as well as, Physician or Medical positions. Statistics verify that education credentials are frequently falsified by candidates on resumes and employment applications. Quality Counts, Inc. will verify college degrees, Board Certification, Masters, Ph.D., etc. Education Verification will include the candidate’s dates of attendance, graduation date and degree earned. Some educational institutions will report Grade Point Average Professional, Management and Executive and Personal Reference verification is critical in making an informed hiring selection. The Reference Verification Process will include questions that relate to the candidate’s professionalism, work ethic, integrity and adaptability. Additional questions that focus on a candidate’s management capabilities, planning, organizational skills and leadership ability may be included. Additionally, each client may include three questions tailored to a specific job position and hiring need. Workers’ Compensation History verification is highly recommended in manufacturing and production environments or for candidates who will be exposed to physical activity such as lifting is part of the job requirement. The information provided enables employers to avoid placing employees in positions that may pose risk of re-injury and identify habitual claim filers. Workers’ Compensation History is a statewide search available in most states, but must be conducted post-offer. The search identifies workers compensation claims against a candidate’s previous employers. The Workers’ Compensation History will report the last five events and include case numbers, locations, case status, dates of injury, body parts injured, type of injury, and all party information including lien claimants. When applicants have filed workers compensation claims against past employers, they often intentionally leave them off their employment applications; you may use falsification of an employment application as grounds for revoking a conditional job offer or terminating a recent hire.
Quality Counts, Inc. conducts professional license and certification verifications. Our reports reveal the validity of applicants’ professional licensure, date of issue, renewal and expiration dates, current status and any disciplinary action.
The United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) excludes individuals listed in the Sanction database from working in Medicare, Medicaid and other Federal Health Care programs. Quality Counts, Inc. researches the Cumulative Sanction Report and Debarred Contractors List from the General Services Administration. Per Federal Law, all sexual offenders must register when they change residences. Currently, there are more than 386,000 registered sex offenders nationwide. Sexual offender registry searches are statewide searches of registered sex offender databases. Quality Counts, Inc. urges this search for all candidates but specifically for those candidates entering the Education field, Restaurant Organizations, Health Care Organizations, Real Estate or any organization which has on-site childcare, patients or other people at high risk. We also recommend that the candidate execute a separate release form for this search. |
